War shows the dark side of life. It can be a brutal, scary and unforgettable moment for the soldiers fighting. Director Michael Bay gives the audience the true meaning of heroism about six soldiers doing what’s right, but lacks giving all of the facts on a true story filled with explosions along the way.
The movie is based on a book called “13 hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened In Benghazi”. It focused on six soldiers from different military backgrounds defending the American diplomatic compound and the CIA Annex in Benghazi, Libya. One of the main characters playing Jack Da Silva is John Krasinski. This is the first time he was featured in a war movie ripped, strong and an altitude of not wanting to mess with him. But the other five were funny, serious soldiers doing their job. The build up of the moment going against, pretty much the country was intense. It really does focus on the hate from the country to the United States. But they left some things out on why and if there was more to the story. The whole story does give the audience something to think about when it comes to soldiers.
It’s pretty much like any video game including of a tutorial combined with missions on the way. Every chase, interactions and looking at family photos results into the life of a solider. Then when the shooting happen, it became Call of Duty. It can be a fact that in those types of games even six people can kill their enemies, which is what the movie did. Now even the book can have some truth facts, but they may it seem like these guys were an elite group despite their military experience. Every footstep became a nervous moment because of their location. Overall the action was good with the explosions always known to be in Bay movies.
The movie directed by Bay did show meaning of soldiers fighting for their lives. They shown at the time reason why they were in a battle that should have been known before. The breathtaking scenes combined with almost crying moments put a person in disbelief about war, just like any other movie within the subject. United States will always remember 9/11 and the anniversary of those protecting the American people. It may surprise those on making more than it was expected, but it shows the United States in corruption of hiding things that needs to be said or shown in public.
6/10- Validates the meaning of heroism in war, but makes it feel unrealistic at certain moments.
