Curtis Jackson (a.k.a. 50 Cent) spent nearly three hours Saturday signing bottles of Effen vodka, a product in which he invests. Rappers Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo made a surprise appearance at the event as well.
Hundreds of people lined up outside the store to meet the rappers and have some memorabilia signed. Even non-drinkers queued to buy a bottle.
I don’t drink,” said Godfrey Kelly, of Syracuse, who waited in line for about five hours. “I’m getting a bottle for my girl.
By noon, the line outside the store on N. State St. snaked around the block and down Butternut St. First in line was a couple from Mexico, N.Y. who showed up at 1:30 a.m. and slept in their car until 6 a.m. Others came from as far as Albany and Rochester.
“I usually drive an hour to go to a liquor store at 9 a.m.,” joked Chris David, who came from Rochester hoping Jackson would sign a baseball.
