This is the perfect time to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Wonder Woman to remind everyone about the representation and influence that this major character had on woman. Wonder Woman was first released on March 12, 1974 based off of the character in DC Comics that gives all women the drive to be as powerful as her. Just imagine how the person doing the voice over of Wonder Woman feel, Susan Eisenberg, as she voices her opinion saying that having this opportunity to do this voice over is the greatest privilege of her professional life. Wonder Woman is such an amazing character to celebrate because of what she symbolized. It is a beautiful thing to see such strength in a character and have that character be a woman.
There are not too many films that show women standing up on their own two feet and having control and power. Another asset that the Wonder Woman character has is showing that women can do what men do, as well as fight beside them. During the time Wonder Woman was released people felt that women were only good for staying home, cooking and cleaning, but there were plenty of women who wanted to fight against that lifestyle, and Wonder Woman helped motivate that force.
The stance for equality is shown through this character characteristics as she fights for anyone no matter what their race or sexuality is we are all worth the same. Overall this is not only an example for women, but for everyone to take the lead, stand up and fight for what is right and bury what is wrong. Seems to me that having a heroic character around for this long influenced tons of women to be stronger. Also fighting for what they believe in is definitely something to celebrate.
