A.$.A.P. Rocky Sits Down With “The Breakfast Club” To Discuss Black Lives Matter & More
After being being dragged on social this past week over controversial comments about the racial situation currently happening in America, “So every time something happens because I’m black I gotta stand up? What the f— am I, Al Sharpton now? I’m A$AP Rocky. I don’t wanna talk about no fucking Ferguson and shit because I don’t live over there! I live in f—ing Soho and Beverly Hills. I can’t relate.” Rocky went on The Breakfast Club to to clear up his outrageous commentary.
“I want to inspire. I want promote peace, because at a time like this, I don’t have all the answers. I’m not trying to run for Congress. I’m not trying to run for office. I don’t have all the answers, you know what I’m saying?” Rocky said during the interview, adding he often gets frustrated when journalists ask him about his public silence on the Black Lives Matter movement.“I hate when the bandwagon stuff starts. How come black lives only matter when a police officer takes it? It should matter when a black life takes it. It should always matter. All lives matter.” “All Lives Matter” has been a reaction response to Black Lives Matter movement, but has been criticized for misinterpreting what Black Lives Matter hopes to accomplish by many.
Later in the interview, Rocky mentioned his legacy being tarnished by the comments, and brought up Bill Cosby as an example. “He did so much positive things leading up to one thing, which he was convicted of being innocent for, by the way,” he said. “People don’t even speak about that, you get what I’m saying? All you remember is the 56 woman and all that kind of shit.”
