I got to the pinnacle of my basketball career but that wasn’t the pinnacle of life for me.
After I wrapped up my conversation with former NBA star of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Daniel Gibson, those words wouldn’t stop ringing in my head (for personal reasons of my own) but more importantly of how society still has such a hard time with viewing people out of the box that we’re so used to seeing them in. Daniel Gibson aka “Booby” or “Young Gib” (what we call him in our office-lol) stepped into the NBA back in 2006 and reached soaring heights in his career before ever reaching 29 years of age. From being one of the leading players to carry the Cleveland Cavaliers to their first NBA Finals, to marrying the girl of his dreams-Keyshia Cole, and becoming a father, Daniel Gibson defied the odds that society places on young black men and his success as well as his perspective on life is absolutely motivational.
Embarking on a completely different path since his departure from the NBA, Daniel Gibson is embracing his artistic side, creating dope a** music, and reaching new pinnacles in life off the court.
