“We want our guests and members to have a distinctive experience when they visit,” said Nigel Stowe, director of Hotel Café Royal according to elledecor. “And our emphasis on art certainly helps to create that experience.”
People visit art museums for an interesting take on different art pieces. Some may find it exciting and others wish it was more accessible to them (free) when they travel. Well this and other luxury hotels are attracting guests with their pieces from current and upcoming artists, making it an art gallery.
This decision was based on enjoyment and giving guests an experience worth remembering. Even other countries like Japan want to showcase their pencil sketches, chalk drawings, and sculptures. Masaru Watanabe, general manger at the Palace Hotel in Tokyo, knows adding these features can make the travel experience fun and exciting.
“Discerning travelers seek out luxury not only in products, but also experiences. If we’re able to introduce them to the richness of Tokyo and Japan then we’ll have succeeded in delivering a well-rounded travel experience versus a mere hotel stay. Art can contribute greatly to this,” said Watanabe according to elledecor.
Still a lot of work needs to be done. If flashy art pieces are a hit in the world’s most luxury hotels, museums should worry on their decline in attendance. Hotels are meant for vacations and business trips, which helps them in having individuals take 20 to 3o minutes on looking at terrific art pieces.
