Barneys New Ad Campaign: Transgender Models

The Brothers, Sisters, Sons and Daughters campaign photographed by Bruce Weber is Barneys new Spring 2014 advertisement, featuring 17 transgender men and women from all around the world dressed in designer garments. Following the models photographs presented in black and white is Vanity Fair’s contributing editor Patricia Bosworth, interviewing each model to help share their personal stories. Along with the photographs and personal stories are several short films including a 15 minutes video to be shown on Barneys’ website. “I hope that my photographs and films of these 17 new friends, who are transgender men and women, convey the respect I have for them and how I stand in awe of their courage to face the world”, Bruce Weber said. Barneys partnered up with two transgender organizations, the National Center for Transgender Equality and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center and on February 11th, Barneys will donate 10 percent of its sales from its flagship and from Barneys.com to both organizations.
