‘Batman The Killing Joke’ Coming Out On DVD As A Rated ‘R’ Movie

Fans of DC are going to be happy with news on ‘Batman The Killing Joke’ coming out on DVD as a rated ‘R’ film.

The movie is based on the Joker torturing and paralyzing Batgirl in her house, leading to her other alter ego as the Oracle. The production crew wants everyone to really see the truth based off the novel “The Killing Joke”, which is the darkest story out of the Batman history. Original cast of Kevin Conroy (Batman) and Mark Hamill (Joker) are coming back and it wouldn’t be the same without them for this film.

“From the start of production, we encouraged producer Bruce Timm and our team at Warner Bros. Animation to remain faithful to the original story — regardless of the eventual MPAA rating,” said president of Warner Bros. Animation and digital sales Sam Register to Entertainment Weekly Thursday according to UPI.

“The Killing Joke is revered by the fans, particularly for its blunt, often-shocking adult themes and situations. We felt it was our responsibility to present our core audience — the comics-loving community — with an animated film that authentically represented the tale they know all too well.”

Check out the first teaser trailer of the film, coming out this summer.
