Bey season has officially started. Beyoncé dropped her 5th and self-titled studio album “Beyoncé” on iTunes Friday morning 12:00am without any warning or promotion. Beyoncé has always been a game changer, but this move might top the cake. What’s interesting that this is not only an audio cd, but a “visual album” as she calls it. The album is made up 14 new tracks, but also accompanied with 17 music videos shot all around the world in places such as Houston, New York City, Paris Sidney, and Rio de Janeiro. She might just be the hardest working woman in show business with dropping a secret album and recently celebrating her Mrs. Carter World tour celebrating its 100th date. She had this to say about the album “I see music. It’s more than just what I hear. When I’m connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling or an emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dreams or my fantasies. And they’re all connected to the music.”
A double CD/DVD will be available for purchase in stores on December 21. You may ask “why did release an album without even letting her fans know.” Here’s your answer “I didn’t want to release my music the way I’ve done it.” “I am bored with that. I feel like I am able to speak directly to my fans. There’s so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans. I felt like I didn’t want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out. I just want this to come out when it’s ready and from me to my fans.”
Three hours after it’s release the album had over 80,000 downloads and by Saturday already topped the iTunes chart in over 100 countries. The album is already expected to take the number one spot on the Billboard charts.
All hail King B.
