This past weekend Bleu Bombshell was invited to our Nations Capital, Washington DC, to “ROCK! Like A Girl”. A concert and conversation series celebrating the contributions of females within Hip Hop , Black Girls Rock! founder Beverly Bond teamed up with the Kennedy Center’s “One Mic: Hip-Hop Festival” to produce the first installment of ROCK! Like A Girl.
Hosted by The legendary Raptress MC Lyte, the packed house enjoyed performances from DC’s own Be’la Doña, Ana Tijoux, the critically acclaimed Jean Grae, Rapsody, Black Girls Rock! mentees, Grammy Award winning violinist Miri Ben-Ari, and the Grammy Award winning Ms. Lauryn Hill.
Bringing the whole Kennedy Center to a standing ovation upon her arrival, Ms. Hill gracefully remixed her greatest hits while captivating the crowd with her presence.
After the show host MC Lyte tweeted ” Backstage at one of the most historic events for Women and music. Been a minute since I’ve seen my sister Lauryn Hill but it’s always like a day has never passed. L Boogie blew the stage off the hinges!!!
