If you call yourself a connoisseur of vintage fashion then Sophia Amoruso has been your icon for some time now. Her innate ability to restore value onto discarded pieces through styling them on her friends became a marketable skill. She opened up shop on ebay in 2006 and since then she has given birth to a $100 million international clothing empire called Nasty Gal. With over 180,000 followers, her Instagram is a staple in fashion blogging and couture culture, as well as a chronicle of a new age feminist work ethic with posts like “The only thing I smoke is my competition.” She recently authored #GIRLBOSS, a guide through her very unique success story targeting young entrepreneurs in which she describes herself as “street educated”. Though she would rather not “be praised for being a woman with no college degree,” it certainly is inspiring to know that someone with a few bucks, initiative, and a chic Amélie Poulain haircut can still make it in the business world. At Bombshell we are proud to celebrate her and wish her vintage world domination.
