After months of speculation, Calvin Klein will soon announce Raf Simons as the new creative director according to WWD. Rumors of for the suspected change in creative direction first surfaced back in early November of 2015, but was not made official due to the terms of his current contract with Dior. This move would be a major one, as the creative direction for all the brand’s CK family would rely solely on Simon’s vision.
“A new brand direction will ultimately follow one creative vision across all categories of the business. An announcement will be made in due course,” according to a statement made from the brand. While the position comes with extensive responsibility, the appointment of Simon’s could be the chess piece that take CK to the next level.
“As a strategy, bringing in Simons makes a lot of sense. His modern minimalistic aesthetic is a good fit for Calvin Klein and his arrival could bring new momentum to a brand which has languished for several years, at least from a high-fashion sense,” as noted by Bussiness of Fashion columnist Imran Amed.
For now, all we can do is wait for the news to be made official. Stay tuned for more updates at BleuMagazine.com
