Cavaliers Are Now Favorites To Win An NBA Title Even With A Healthy Warriors Team
The Cleveland Cavaliers are slowly getting the pieces that LeBron James wants for this roster. Acquiring Derick Williams, Deron Williams and now Andrew Bogut with a Kyle Korver added to their second unit makes them complete. Now that J.R. Smith and Kevin Love are almost coming back, they are now the favorites to win another NBA championship even with a healthy Golden State Warriors team.
The narrow changed when last week Kevin Durant suffered a grade 2 MCL sprain and tibia bone bruise. Fans of Golden State and the NBA were shocked to hear these news knowing it happened at the wrong time. The Warriors know they have to make an adjustment until Durant is 100 percent, but so do the Cavaliers. Their adjustment is integrating these new pieces to the puzzle, making them practically unstoppable. The fact that they literally have former number one draft picks on their roster is astonishing to see.
No general manager in NBA history has done what David Griffin did for the franchise. They arguably have the best supporting cast in the league, something James had before with the Miami Heat in 2013. James knows how great Golden State is when they are clicking on all cylinders, making every three point shot off passes. He also knows the other western conference teams like San Antonio and Houston being a major threat. Both of those teams have a star (Kawhi Leonard and James Harden) and system in place, something most NBA teams neglect these days. But should James be pressured? Absolutely not.
Cavaliers will certainly be coming out of the East unless the Boston Celtics or Washington Wizards pull an upset. The amount of minutes James is playing can only hurt his longevity for the team. However, the window to win championships is now and they have no excuse. Let’s see if the Cavs live up to expectations by the end of June.
