On Feb 14th during All Star Weekend some of the world’s best athletes such as Russell Wilson, Blake Griffin and Matt Harvey joined Derek Jeter on the official launch of ‘The Players’ Tribune’ at Canoe Studios in New York City.
The Players’ Tribune launched back in October to empower athletes to share their stories in first person essays. The website features video clips, podcast and original photos from athletes. The Tribune also announced their strategic partnership with AOL to co-produce and distribute content from the website.
Our vision behind The Players’ Tribune is to create a platform that transforms how athletes share information and, in turn, bring the fans closer than ever to the game,” said Derek Jeter, founding publisher of The Players’ Tribune. “The goal is to build an innovative online destination with unique content and I think the AOL partnership will continue to help us grow.
Not only are they sharing their content with AOL, but with Blue Jeans Network and Sirius XM as well. Blue Jeans Network is helping The Players’ Tribune with Primetime Technology that will enhance fan and athlete engagement through Q&A’s and virtual discussion groups.
SiriusXM aired a live show on Feb 18 of The Players’ Tribune hosted by TV and radio personality Ben Lyons, who is the chief correspondent and “Voice Of The Fans”. The show will run on Mad Dog Sports Radio every Wednesday from 7-8.
