If you’re looking to get the best bang for your next vacation, you should have your sights set on New Zealand. There are plenty of attractions, but we have put together the top four places to see.
1. Waitomo Glowworm Caves
To explore the Waitomo Glowworm Caves requires a boat ride in. Silk threads hang down at the entrance of the cave before you are enclosed in the luminescent light of the glowworms. These glowworms are unique to this area, thus creating heavy tourist traffic. Make sure to book a boat tour ahead of time!
2. Hobbiton Movie Set
An essential stop for any Lord of the Rings and Hobbit fan, the Hobbiton Movie Set is literally a scene straight out of a movie. Experience J. R. R. Tolkien’s fictional Middle-earth with a guided tour through Hobbit Holes and the Green Dragon Inn.
Dubbed the “Thermal Wonderland,” Wai-O-Tapu is an active geothermal area that boasts New Zealand’s most colorful volcanic area. Although the volcanic area is still active, it is safe to visit as long as you stay on the defined path. You’ll see incredible lime green waters and pools cloaked in steam.
4. Sky Tower
Finish off your trek around New Zealand with a trip to the Sky Tower. Looming at 1,076 feet tall, this observation tower will give you a clear view of key landmarks in the Auckland area. If you don’t want to be restricted by windows you can opt for the SkyWalk, where you’ll be able to walk across an outside platform with only a full body harness. And if that doesn’t satisfy the daredevil in you, you can also bungee jump 629 feet down the tower through SkyJump.
