Disney announced yesterday on dropping out of gaming development, including Avalanche software and canceling Disney infinity line games. They will incur a $147 million charge to the cancellation, leaving over 300 employees out of a job.
Disney said in a statement to IGN, ” Disney Infinity is being cancelled due to the “lack of growth in the toys-to-life market,” which, coupled with the high-development costs of the franchise, has “created a challenging business model.”
Although they are canceling Disney Infinity games, some of the other ones are still going to come out. They still have a deal with EA on releasing Star Wars games. Expect many more changes from a company worth making investments for the future.
