Soul sisters Erykah Badu and Jill Scott have just been announced as the headliners of the two-day 2016 Summer Spirit Festival held August 6th & 7th at the Merriweather Post Pavillion in Columbia, MD.
Festival goers will enjoy the outdoor venue on night one featuring Erykah Badu’s blend of funk, jazz, hip-hop and soul hot off the heals of her latest release, her 2015 mixtape entitled But You Caint Use My Phone based on her 1997 runaway hit “Tyrone.” Joining Erykah Badu are acts such as Janelle Monae, Gregory Porter, Leela James, Avery*Sunshine, Daley and Be’la Dona with DJ Kool & Sugar Bear.
On day two, “Jilly from Philly” takes the stage with new music from 2015’s Woman album alongside The Roots, Team Familiar, Kindred the Family Soul, The Chuck Brown Band and Wisdom Speeks.
Two-day passes and single day passes for the 2016 Summer Spirit Festival are on sale now.
In addition, Erykah Badu and Jill Scott are expected to perform at the soon-to-be christened Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk on separate dates. Erykah plays on August 3rd with Hiatus Kaiyote opening while Jill is scheduled to play on August 14th. Tickets for these shows are available on Friday, April 15th.
