Over Exposed: Rick Owen’s Fall/Winter 2015

Has he gone too far? Know for his dark and Avant Garde style, Rick Owens usually puts out pieces that are talked about for their stand out aesthetic but this Fall/Winter 2015 Collection is getting all the wrong accolades.

Breasts, over-exposed legs, and even some buttock are things we barely bat an eyelash at on the runway; but Owens’ exposing model’s genitals has the fashion world stunned. Of the varying looks displayed in his Fall/Winter 2015 collection, there were four that showcased some models “jewels”. Intentionally cut holes  and raised hem lines over the groin had frontal exposure in full affect.

When asked about the inclusion of nudity within his show, Owens stated,

Nudity is the most simple and primal gesture. It packs a punch. It’s powerful. It’s a straight world now. It says something about being independent. Who else can really get away with this stuff? It’s a corporate world! This was our private moment.

Owen’s intentional display of nudity really brought about the wrong type of attention from critics leaving some arguing that this was not fashion. Some critics even compared these raunchy looks to draped burlap sacks. What a disappointment. Outside of those four brazen looks the remaining pieces within Owen’s collection were very well made and on trend for this upcoming season. Unfortunately flaccid frontal views stole the show.
