FIGHTBALL, a new global sports entertainment property that has transformed one-on-one basketball into a hyper-intensive rivalry, launched Wednesday night with its inaugural FIGHTBALL 00 NYC tournament. FIGHTBALL 00 NYC will push eight of the Northeast’s most skilled and notoriously tough players to their limits for the chance to win a grand prize of $10,000 and the title of FIGHTBALL 00 NYC champion.
FIGHTBALL 00 NYC, was hosted by MC Joe Pope at SIR/Stage 37, went beyond the average sporting event and mashed the court with the club. The venue’s hardwood basketball court served as the epicenter of a nightclub setting where legendary DJ Clark Kent delivered a live music mix. This is the first of the FIGHTBALL event series, which will roll out around the world with a “touring tournament” that features players from a variety of countries.
“One-on-one basketball is the purest form of the game and we wanted to push it to a new space,” said FIGHTBALL co-founders Jonas Hallberg and Liron Reznik. “We designed FIGHTBALL to elevate the best aspects of basketball to appeal to today’s short attention span, highlight hungry, global audience.” Check out the video above!
