(You knew this was bound to be posted.)
Yes guys, today we’re talking Pokemon Go, and as someone raised on the card games, TV shows, and video games, I was stoked to finally be able to catch Pokemon in real life. Be that as it may, my first thought right off the bat was “Jeez man, why are the servers down?!” You’d think that the techs would have expected an exorbitant amount of players across the globe, but maybe their servers just suck.
However, once I was finally able to get the app up and running, I was on the road to becoming the very best, like no one ever was. So far, for the first implementation of Pokemon Go is pretty impressive. The placement of PokeStops and Gyms at significant locations in neighborhoods is very well thought out. What I am really looking forward to is the ability to trade Pokemon and battle with other trainers outside of a Pokemon Gym setting. In hindsight though, if we were to get a notification every time a Trainer was in the vicinity, we would be ping-ing for hours.
Overall though, despite the server issues (which have now become memes in the Pokemon Go community), and the lack of more prevalent player-to-player interaction, I’m pretty satisfied with the game as a whole. It incorporates a lot of elements into its gameplay, and I’m sure that the game will only improve as time goes on.
And as a general note, I’m Team Valor. Do with that information what you will.
