18-year-old Anthony Lewis stepped onto the scene with his 2014 banger “Candy Rain”– a hood remake of the 1994 hit by Soul For Rain. He got discovered on YouTube by former Interscope exec. Garnett March after getting over 300,000 views for his sensual covers of songs like “No Type” and “Thinkin Bout You”. Without an album out, he’s already been able to establish a loyal fan base, with over 26,000 Instagram followers and 32,000 Twitter followers. Now, he’s ready to drop his album and become an R&B star.
What can we expect from your debut album?
-A traditional Hip-Hop and R&B sound. The album is called “Five Senses”. It makes you go back to high school. It’s about everything a girl makes you feel: her smell, her body. Everything about her.
Who did you work with on this album?
-The executive producers are The Interns, who produced “Anaconda”,”Dance A**”, and “Good Lovin”. T.I.. And Adam Messinger, from Magic, wrote a song called “It’s Not My Fault” which The Messengers produced.
Who are your musical inspirations
-Michael Jackson, Chris Brown and Justin Timberlake.
What’s hard about being so young in the industry?
-People taking you seriously. I play around a lot. But everyone is looking out for me. My mom, Troy Marshall, The Internz, The Chemists- it’s a whole big family. They give me the support I need.
Where do you see yourself ten years from now?
-Performing at the Super Bowl.
