Kickin’ It with Keiynan Lonsdale

Australia’s very own Keiynan Lonsdale is here and ready to take Hollywood by storm!

The charming Aussie was first introduced to the world as Ollie, a dance student on the ABC television series Dance Academy.  Lonsdale recently landed the role as Uriah in the second film of the well known Divergent trilogy titled, Insurgent.  Aside from acting the rising star released his first single on I-Tunes titled, One and Only, proving that he is a triple threat and a force to be reckoned with.  Bleu staff got the chance to chat with the accomplished performer about fashion, family and what he likes to do when he’s not getting ready for his next major role!

Do you have a favorite brand?
For shoes its Timberland.

What are you wearing today?
New Denim. H&M. Armani Exchange. I don’t really take to much notice to brands but in Australia my favorite store is General Pants.  I don’t believe you have that here in America.
When did you start acting?
When I was sixteen I went to a performing arts high school.  We did 3 hours of academics and then lunch, and then the rest of the day was for dance or acting class.
What are you working on now?
I wrapped Insurgent in Atlanta and I’m currently filming The Finest Hours.  It probably wont’ be out until 2015 or 2016.  Its based on a sinking ship and we worked in front of many green screens so there will be a lot of post production.
Who do you play in your upcoming film Insurgent?
Uriah, my character is in all 3 of the books but only the 1st film so they’re introducing him in a cool way.  He is a Divergent.
You’re from Australia?
Yea, I’ve been here since June.  When I hear an Australian accent, my ears perk up.
Have you ever done any stage work?
I did a musical called Fame.  I was originally an ensemble member but the lead broke his back so I had the opportunity to play Tyrone.  I think I did my first one line speaking role in a show called All Saints when I was really young.
You’re also a singer?

Two of my brothers are really into music.  Sometimes we write music together.  The youngest goes to music school, so he’ll lay the beat for us.  I wrote my song “One and Only” when I was eighteen.

Outside of acting, singing, and dancing, what are your hobbies?
I play a lot of video games. Currently, I’m playing Final Fantasy, Destiny, and Watch Dogs.
What is your family background?
My dad is Nigerian and my mom is Aussie and a bit of Irish. I have 11 siblings.
Are you interested in going back to school?
Definitely. I would be interested in Game Design in college.
