Kobe Bryant surpassed Michael Jordan on the NBA’s all-time scoring list Sunday and moved into third place behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Karl Malone.
December 14th, Kobe Bryant entered the game against Minnesota Timberwolves eight points shy from passing the Chicago Bulls legendary Michael Jordan. The Los Angeles Lakers veteran is now active in his 19th season repping that purple and gold throughout his entire journey. The 100-94 victory against the Timberwolves has now placed Black Mamba over MJ’s remarkable 32,292 points. He finished the game with 26 points on 7-of-20 shooting to go along with 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Bryant now trails only Abdul-Jabbar 38,387 and Malone 36,928 in career NBA points.
“I’m just honored to be here, man, to still be playing,” Bryant said. “I appreciate being able to play this long. Careers normally don’t last this long. I really appreciate the opportunity to still be out there playing and performing and doing what I do.”
