Yesterday, the whole world and social media reacted to Lakers’ Kobe Bryant’s letter, officially announcing his retirement to the game of basketball by the end of the season.
One of the greatest scorers in NBA history knew it was coming to an end. In his 20th season he is having the worst season of his career. Bryant is averaging 15.5 points on 30 percent shooting. He’s also averaged 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists. It’s very clear to everyone including himself that his play is not the same, even on a bad Lakers team. The Lakers overall is not looking pretty sharp and they are not exactly in the playoff discussion.
Bryant gave everyone something to watch over the years of his career. The five time champion, who is the closest thing to Michael Jordan gave everything he had on the court. His toughness, confidence, and determination to do whatever it took to win a game is what the fans will forever remember him by. Other players and legends appreciates the level of play he displayed every single night. Although injuries and mismanagement from the Lakers organization made it difficult to face the truth.
The old cliche of “father time is undefeated” is what Kobe is facing now. Check out his letter on the game of basketball and appreciate his last moments of playing basketball this season.
