This year marks the 25th Anniversary of 1992’s L.A./South Central riots that occurred during the famous Rodney King case. Four officers who were responsible for his death, were acquitted by a trial jury. This caused an uproar in the Los Angeles County, mainly amongst the black community, and consisted of multiple civil disturbances including looting, assaults, killings, and arsons.
National Geographic recently released a trailer for a documentary based on these riots called LA 92. Cornering the actions of criminalization and questionable authority, National Geographic uses RAW footage of the events to translate the horrifying physical and emotional reactions that occurred during that time.
