On Monday March 3rd 2014,
Lebron James showcased the most electrifying performance in his career thus far against the Charlotte Bobcats. Dwayne Wade, team mate of James decided to take a night off. Without Wade alongside in the back court, James stepped up to carry the heat to another win. James surpassed his old career high 56 points back in 2005 against the Toronto Raptors. James went 22 for 33 from the field and 8 for 10 from three point range to ending the game with 61 points. This was not a big night just for James but a huge night for the Miami Heat franchise. After breaking Glen Rice 56 points franchise record, James now holds the new franchise record.
Entering the game James didn’t seem like he would have an out breaking scoring night. During the first half he ended the first quarter with 11 points and ended the half with 24 points. Approaching the third quarter the fans could tell James was locked in and focused. During the third quarter James went 5 for 5 from behind the arc. He shot 9 for 11 from the field, scoring 25 points which was the same amount as the entire Charlotte Bobcats team. This quarter put the heat up by more than 20 points against the Bobcats.
Finishing up the game there was no stopping James performance. The only way James would not reach 60 points was if he were to leave the game early. The Bobcats now let two top individuals perform memorable games. Back in January Carmelo Anthony scored his career high at 62 points. This may seem odd since Charlotte Bobcats is ranked 6th in the NBA Defensively. Monday night was a night to remember for the entire Miami Heat franchise. The enjoyable showcase may have sealed the journey for Lebron James to receive his 5th Most Valuable Player Award.
