Songwriter/producer Lonny Bereal presents ALONZO, the first artist on his new record label Lonny Tunes via a partnership with AMJ Global Entertainment.
ALONZO( a.k.a Lonny Bereal) is a critically acclaimed award-winning songwriter and producer that has written songs for artist like Chris Brown, Jamie Foxx, Tank, Keri Hilson, Ariana Grande and Keyshia Cole among others. He has song credits for singles “I Can Transform Ya”, “Right There”, “Wet The Bed”,
Lonny’s song-writing credits isn’t just limited to music artist, he has also written music for several film soundtracks such as “The Seat Filler” the telefilm “Life Support”, where he was nominated for an Emmy, and the critically acclaimed “More Than a Game”. He has also contributed to writing songs to Tyler Perry’s “Meet The Browns” and BET’s “The Game”.
ALONZO’s debut single #InstagramThat, co-written by Lonny Bereal and produced by Rockstar Mechanix and Yonni for Tracksons, possesses a totally different sound compared to the other stuff he has written, which could almost cause people to doubt it’s actually Lonny. In a press release, Lonny described the new style of ALONZO as “a combination of his inspirations growing up and the new sounds of music today”. Under the advice of Ne-Yo and Tank, Lonny decided, in order to present this new song to the public, he would have to create a brand new alias, which created: ALONZO.
The sound on my new song I will say it’s fun, it’s edgy, it’s tough for people to say it’s R&B this time, its so mainstream and I did that on purpose cause I don’t wanna be in a box and this new sound is just ALONZO….I’m still Lonny Bereal. Ne-Yo told me about two years ago “Lonny, the whole industry knows how talented you are, it’s not about what you’re capable of doing, its about how you’re doing it”. When I first played it for Tank he said “You’ve found it, you’ve gotta change your name that isn’t Lonny Bereal like I don’t know who this guy is.”
For almost ten years, Lonny has been involved in the music industry, doing background vocals for and writing songs for artist like Tank, Jamie Foxx, Kelly Rowland, Brandy and Monica, and many others. Despite growing up in a musical household. Lonny was encouraged to take part in his other interests as well as music, but eventually he ended up falling into the world of music afterward.
I didn’t start writing songs until the latter part of my teenage years because I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, I was able to do whatever I wanted to do cause I was born into it and I was always around it. I more or so wanted to play basketball than be a drummer….I was at school playing ball just trying to do it all after a while I gravitated towards what I couldn’t get away from and that was singing and writing
After writing songs and doing background vocals for other artist, he was also briefly apart of The Conglomerate (a.k.a Flipmode) for a time. Lonny described those experiences as very influential to his growth as an artist in the industry as well as a inspiration for creating the ALONZO sound.
I learn from everything and hip-hop influences me a great deal and that’s why I was able to co-exist with Busta on The Conglomerate…I’m influenced by everything so I take from when I’m writing for other people….everything is something different that I’m learning so it all makes it that much more easy when I’m in there working on my own stuff, I start to see everything that I’ve learned. While they think their learning from me I was learning from them.
Lonny also talked about his decision to create Lonny Tunes in partnership with AMJ Entertainment.
I just wanted to do a different way you know…a lot of artist go back and wanna have their own imprints like Kanye had G.O.O.D Music and Jay-Z had Roc Nation. It’s becoming that kind of base for music and I love it to be honest with you, it gives us an opportunity to take our industry back because there is no industry without us, there is no industry without he songwriter, without the artist and so I think its a really great thing for us to go the more independent route now.
Fans can go download #InstagramThat on iTunes in the next few weeks and ALONZO’s new album Day 1 will be available soon. You can check out the lyric video below.
