After waiting a year for the second season of Netflix’s fantastic series “Narcos,” my weekend was spent binge watching all 10 episodes.
The amazing casting of Pablo Escobar’s character by Wagner Moura is top notch. The writing and cinematography are what set this show apart from many other. The fact that most of the series is in Spanish just draws you in more. The show invokes a certain charisma, which is intoxicating to the viewer. It’s what keeps me watching and wanting more. I would describe the new season in 3 words: death, destruction, and family. Season two really makes one think about who you want to win in the end.
With the DEA and the Colombian government’s enormous man hunt, there are dirty deals and backstabbing of the other cartels. Though for me what grounds the show is Escobar’s love of his family and the devotion to do anything to keep them safe. From being attacked from all sides by the DEA, Columbian government, and the other drug cartels, the fact you can see the two sides of Pablo Escobar makes him so intoxicating.
You know he’s a bad guy but you just don’t want him to lose. If you are trying to brush up on your Spanish or looking for a new series to watch, I highly recommend you get your best friend’s Netflix account password, stay inside this weekend, and check out season two of “Narcos.”
