With the release of the movie “The Land” and him being an executive producer for the film, hip-hop icon Nas knows that making films is what he wants to do next in the future.
The Queens native also an executive producer on the new hip-hop series “The Get Down”. He contributes music and poems to the show. Nas is passionate about being a filmmaker, hoping it’s another milestone being added to his resume.
“I’m right on track of what I’m supposed to be doing in my life,” Nas tells The Associated Press. “It’s been my dream to work in films. I share a love for films as much as I feel it for music. This is my calling.”
This isn’t the first time a rapper wants to either act or do films in the entertainment industry. Ice Cube did both acting and making films. Snoop Dogg, DMX and in some degree Eminem, also follow that path. If there is anyone that can possibly go beyond Cube’s resume as a filmmaker, it’s Nas.
Be on the lookout for the 42-year-old making well thought films filled with a solid story and great music.
