In tonight’s episode of This is Us, “I Call Marriage,” there appears to be a lot of love and romance. In the promo for the episode we see that we are finally going to witness Jack and Rebecca’s (Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore) marriage. Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and William (Ron Cephas Jones) seem to be growing further into their father-son bond. Kevin (Justin Hartley) is trying to reignite a former flame. And Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby (Chris Sullivan) seem to be heading into engagement-ville.

All of these moments in these characters’ lives may seem wonderful, but, as we may know, when it comes to this show nothing is as it appears to be. Each episode consistently has a twist in the storyline that leaves us all winded. The creator, Dan Fogelman, does a great job of keeping us coming back for more while depicting the duality that we all face in real life: love, hate, friendship, betrayal, pleasure, and pain. It is in the crux of these positive and negative aspects of life that make us human. This is a notable quality of the show that has made it so successful. The characters feel real to us.

So what can we really expect to see? Well, Jack and Rebecca’s wedding goes according to plan, but Miguel (Jon Huertas) makes a return to break some news to them both. Randall struggles in dealing with his father’s deteriorating health. Kevin is forced to face his rather rocky romantic past. And Toby’s visit to Kate’s weight loss getaway stirs up some drama as a potential love triangle ensues.

There is no word yet if we are going to see more snippets of Jack’s death tonight. However, Fogelman did reveal that Jack’s death will happen this season. As for the cause of death he told E!, “You’re not going to know that for a little bit because we want to show that in the show. So that’s going to take a minute.”

Nevertheless, grab your tissues because we have a feeling that tonight’s episode is going to be a doozy. (Isn’t is always?)

This is Us airs Tuesdays, 9 P.M on NBC.
