The New York Jets won big against the Cleveland Browns with quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and running back Chris Ivory leading the way. Both players combined for four touchdowns on offense.
The Jets in the beginning of the game look sluggish and struggled offensively and defensively. They started to move the football but stop short and punted the ball away. Cleveland quarterback Josh McCown almost scored a touchdown until he loss the ball and suffered a concussion. The backup Quarter back, Johnny Manziel came in and threw a touchdown making it 7-0.
The momentum of the game changed when wide receiver Brandon Marshall rip the ball out of cornerback Tashaun Gipson. From that point on the Jets scored 31 points and the Browns only 3 points. It wasn’t a pretty win but they got the job done under head coach Todd Bowles first game.
”It feels good to get the butterflies out of the way, to get that first one,” Bowles said according to the Associated Press. ”It wasn’t perfect, by no means, but we did what we had to do to win.”
Although the Jets won, there’s a bit of concern over the number of injuries that occurred during the game. Rookie linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin suffered a neck injury in the 4th quarter but was reported him getting a mild concussion as it look bad live in front of the fans. Cornerback Antonio Cromartie suffered a knee injury and the Jets staff hope that it isn’t an ACL/PCL tear.
They have depth in the secondary and the offense looks like they know what their identity is, but they need to stay healthy and continue winning on the road against the Indianapolis Colts.
