Tonight on Fox at 7:30, The New York Mets are set to face the Kansas City Royals in game one of the MLB World Series.
Fans can expect this to be one of the most interesting world series matchups in a long time. One of the best young pitching staffs from the Mets going up against a dangerous and grind down offense in the Royals.
The Mets overall had exceeded expectations coming into the series from a team who was 52-50 at the end of July and going hot all the way through. The trades and starting pitchers playing at a high level made them a dangerous team and the hero of the team is second basemen Daniel Murphy. He has been on a tear in the postseason putting up historic numbers. But will it be enough against a team who was one out away last year of winning it all?
The Royals coming out of a successful season being the number one team in the American League are on a mission to win the world series. Last year, they were the wild card team and lost to the San Francisco Giants in seven games. They were shut down against starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner and believe they have a chance against the Mets.
The Royals lineup are better offensively against fastballs and can take as much pitches as possible. They are better defensively and can steal the bases. First basemen Eric Hosmer is leading the team with his leadership skill and not afraid of the moment. None of these players in the lineup are afraid of any pitcher and have the experience factor over the Mets.
Each game will come down to clutch hits and excellent pitching. Royals have an edge over the Met on the bullpen and the Mets with Matt Harvey, Jacob Degrom, Noah Syndergaard and Steve Matz can go the distance. At the end of the day, the old cliche pitching wins championships in baseball gives the Mets a chance to beat the Royals and bring a WS championship back to New York City.
Mets 4-2 over Royals
