These past few months we can all agree that our presidential debates have been very interesting, but have some Americans given up? There has been tons of memes on social media regarding the two presidential candidates: Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, as to where some people feel that they rather not vote. Watchers of the previous candidate debates feel that this election so far has been unreal, or some would like to say a joke from the name calling and insults being thrown around.
Well, why do us as the people feel that we can not make a decision between not one but two presidential candidates. Trump and Clinton both state in their ideas on how they plan on making change for the better. How would that change be better if the candidates are not understanding the ideas they put out there are either something previously done that did not work, or one with no structure.
Those paying attention to the debates who post on Instagram are just “fed up.” Memes are being made with negative comments about the candidates such as, “If Trump & Hillary are stranded on a boat in the middle of the ocean, who survives? America, America survives.” “I feel like Trump & Hillary are two divorced parents fighting over custody of us but we kinda just wanna go live with grandma,” and so on. There are also items being sold such as shirts and mugs with Hillary and Donald’s name and neither, with the check box neither checked off. And on the back of the shirt is the American flag written on top “God Help U.”
Only 43 percent democratic voters and 40 percent republican voters are satisfied with the 2016 presidential candidates, so where does that leave the rest of the population? What happens if more than half of the population do not vote? It is scary for most Americans because half of them are not happy with the two candidates being brought to the table. That leaves individuals with anxiety, curiosity, and fear not knowing if they are in good hands with their upcoming president.
