New York Giants Eli Manning believes the offense will click in the regular season despite having a dreadful preseason.
The whole month of August the hype from Giants and NFL fans was focused on Odell Beckham Jr, the return of Victor Cruz and Eli Manning making progress after having a good season. But it has planned that way as they struggle mightily in the preseason. They scored 10 points in 12 possessions.
The Giants are not clicking even with the improvement on wide receiver Ruben Randle and the health of running back Rashad Jennings. They also thought of third back down and addition Shane Vereen to excel in the west coast offense. Although it is preseason and it not like the regular season, it still would be nice for the offense to click.
”I think we have been close on some stuff down the field on some big plays,” Manning said according to the Associated Press. ”We can’t be close anymore. We need to hit on it.”
Head Coach Tom Coughlin will have his starters out for a series or two against the New England Patriots tonight at 7:30. Hopefully it gives them confidence for the season opener at Dallas Sept 13th. Manning and the offense need some type of rhythm if they want to silence the critics.
”You kind of never know what you are going to get out of the defense; who is going to be playing or what their scheme will be,” Manning said. ”Whatever they do, we’ll see if we can adjust and move the ball.”
