On this day, 48 years ago to be exact, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. – Civil Rights leader, minister, social activist and one of the greatest men to ever live was assassinated in Memphis, TN.
BLEU Magazine stops for a moment on the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination to not only celebrate his legacy, but also reevaluate where we’ve come and how far we have to go. In a world where we are still fighting for our rights daily and striving towards the equality he so profoundly spoke of in his “I Have A Dream” speech, we want to make sure you take a moment to think, reflect and set a plan of action to do your part in building a better world around us.
You, too, can be the change you wish to see in this world. It’s up to you to make the difference. As we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s efforts and his leadership, we’ll also take into account the many leaders who have supported that same dream and given new life to what it means to fight for the rights of all men, and not just one race, gender or community. We speak your name today Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and today, we thank you for your life, leadership, legacy and life.
