The Carolina Panthers with Cam Newton and the defense leading the way destroyed the Arizona Cardinals 49-15.
The game itself wasn’t competitive compared to the AFC championship game between the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos. Newton, an all around quarterback with potentially his first NFL MVP trophy threw for two touchdowns, ran for two on the ground against a good Cardinals defense. He went 19 of 28 for 335 yards and 10 rushes for 47 yards. He’s right now the player on the planet with his athleticism better than any other quarterback. Nothing fazes him even in big moments. Newton did his part along with the play of the defense.
They made Palmer look uncomfortable the whole game. He finished the game with one touchdown and four interceptions. This was Palmer’s worst game in his short postseason career. He looked scared, nervous against a defense known t0 cause turnovers. They had seven turnovers in total. They made a statement to others not believing in them as a team despite achieving a 15-1 record.
“We wanted to be efficient, we wanted to start fast, wanted to keep the pressure on and wanted to finish, most of all,” Newton said after the game according to Yahoo Sports. “We won as a team. We came out here and fought our tails off, and we did what a lot of people said we couldn’t do. It’s not over yet. We’ll be ready to go in two weeks.”
