Q Tip Teaming With Michelle Obama To Honor Nation’s Best Student Poets
Legendary hip-hop artist Q Tip and First Lady Michelle Obama team up in honoring the fifth annual class of the National Student Poets Program.
The pair welcoming five poets to the White House for a special celebration and poetry reading. This program represents the best 10th and 11th grade poets in the country. The poets this year are: Stella Binion from Chicago, IL; Maya Eashwaran from Alpharetta, GA; Gopal Raman from Dallas, TX (Southwest); Joey Reisberg from Towson, MD; Maya Salameh from San Diego, CA.
Q Tip is known for legendary work with A Tribe Called Quest, a historical group who put out great music during their time. He will be the Kennedy Center’s artistic director for hip-hop culture. It’s going to be interesting seeing the kids doing poetry reading , and most likely being nervous in front of a legendary artist and the first lady.
