Alternative soul singer Res is among a plethora of independent artists taking steps towards creating new albums and delivering innovative music with the aid of a loyal fanbase. For those of you unfamiliar with her at first glance, you might recall she brought us a unique blend of indie pop soul experimental rock with 2002’s breakthrough hit “They-Say Vision” from her debut album How I Do.
After a brief career snag forcing Res to leave her record label, the 2009 digital release of Black.Girls.Rock!, an EP featuring her favorite Fleetwood Mack records aptly entitled ReFried Mac plus a mixtape of various unreleased tracks, Res is back on the scene but not before she tests the waters by enlisting the help of the fans’ support ahead of the forthcoming project RESET.
Res, who hails from Philadelphia, but now resides in Los Angeles, has launched an IndieGoGo campaign to cut out the middleman and bring fans new music straight from the studio. By opting in to support her, you’ll receive special perks like limited edition physical copies of the album, demo recordings, shout outs via her social media profiles, vinyl, t-shirts and a full length acoustic project Bare that’s never been seen or heard before.
All amounts are welcomed as donations, but what makes this project so special for Res? Not only is it long overdue, but it also keeps the fans involved in her writing and recording process from beginning to end. In fact, she’s also offering brand new music every Monday just for signing up and offering assistance.
If you want to join or simply want to get into more of Res, visit her IndieGoGo page now. In the meantime, check out the newest release “Hollow” below.
