Return of the Man: Tom Ford Heading Back to Gucci?

Tom Ford-BleuBombshell Magazine

Just as the rest of the World is budding into the new year, the Fashion world is coming in full throttle. With the bomb of Fashion Week and Mercedes Benz being dropped,  Pre-fall collection previews being buzzed about everywhere, and prep for NYFW taking place, fashion lovers are super busy.

Once Frida Giannini stepped down from her position as creative director of Gucci, talk of Tom Ford stepping back in has begun to surface.  After serving Gucci with a decade of fashion genius from 1994 to 2004, Ford’s departure from the powerhouse was a huge relief for the designer.

Tom Ford leaving Gucci, 2004

After leaving the stresses of Gucci, Ford’s  2 year hiatus from fashion brought about an entirely new direction for the designer. Returning to the world of fashion in 2006 with his own eponymous brand, Ford’s “winning streaks” came rolling in one after another. Bringing in over 1.5 billion dollars, the TOM FORD brand has helped shape the face of today’s fashion through its bold and innovative designs. The creation of his own brand has really allowed the designer to push limits and open up unique realms of fashion which have coined him as one of today’s most sought after designers. Free of rigors and work stress, Ford has also been able to center his focus on his home life marrying long time partner, Richard Buckely and welcoming their son, Alexander. With all of these great things going on now, Ford’s return to Gucci could end up being a little too much for the designer.

Could these rumors be true? What would all of this mean for the world of fashion here in 2015 and beyond? Potentially following suit of peer-designers like Alexander Wang and the iconic Karl Lagerfeld, Ford could very well wear both hats. Just as Wang still serves as creative director or Balenciaga while still designing for his own brands.

This year seems hopeful for a great fashion comeback here in 2015.
