Week 2 of the NFL season in the books, which means it’s time to review some of the action from the first two weeks. So far, we have seen teams upset NFL lines, records being broken, and injuries that have serious implications for teams making the playoffs.
Here are some crazy things that have occurred during the first two weeks of the season.
Sam Bradford Outplays Aaron Rodgers
Ever since he was drafted number one overall by the Rams, quarterback Sam Bradford has had trouble staying healthy, and now playing for his second team in two seasons. Even when he was healthy, Bradford never really showed that he was worth the top pick the Rams used on him, but for one night, he looked like the player the Rams were expecting when they picked him. Unfortunately for the Rams, he did it in another uniform.
Bradford, who was traded to the Minnesota Vikings after Teddy Bridgewater went down, looked like he had been playing in Minnesota’s system his whole career. He completed 71 percent of his passes for 286 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. However, he is unlikely to repeat the performance, especially now that Adrian Peterson will be out for some time.
Melvin Gordon Is The League Leader In Touchdowns
Last season, Melvin Gordon was expected to turn into the star running back the San Diego Chargers haven’t had since LaDainian Tomlinson was on the team. However, Gordon finished the year without a single touchdown, which was disappointing to fans and fantasy football players that had him on their teams.
So far, Gordon has three touchdowns, and is on pace to finish with 24 touchdowns for the season if he keeps going at this current rate.
Russell Wilson’s 17 Game Scoring Streak Ends
During Sunday’s embarrassing loss to the Los Angeles Rams, Russell Wilson failed to score a touchdown through the air or on the ground, bringing an end to his 17-game scoring streak. The good news for Wilson and Seattle fans is that they get to play the San Francisco 49ers this week, which means Wilson will get to start a new streak against a team he has owned since entering the league.
Aaron Rodgers Hasn’t Had A Quarterback Rating Of 100 In 14 Games
Aaron Rodgers is considered to be one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. People aren’t wondering if his skills have started to decline. For the 14th consecutive game, the Green Bay Packers signal-caller has failed to achieve a quarterback rating of 100, which was something he did a lot of earlier in his career.
Initially, his struggles were blamed on the absence of Jordy Nelson. But now that Nelson is back in the lineup, Rodgers is still struggling. In the first week of the season, he struggled against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who were embarrassed by the Chargers last week. Against the Vikings, Rodgers’ struggles continued, which was surprising considering how well Blaine Gabbert played against the same defense.
The New England Patriots Might Start An African American At Quarterback For The First Time In Franchise History
With Jimmy Garoppolo doubtful for Thursday’s matchup against the Houston Texans, the Patriots might have to start Jacoby Brissett, who will be the first African American to start at the quarterback position for the franchise.
