The 2015 All Star Game will be on Sunday, February 15th in Madison Square Garden and a number of stars playing can have an effect on the Knicks off-season this summer.
New York Knicks Star Carmelo Anthony is one of the starters for the East and expects to be the favorite on winning the All Star Game MVP due to him playing at home. But he believes that stars playing in the garden under the bright lights can lure them to the Knicks according to the Daily News.
Looking past this season the Knicks will have plenty of money to spend after the expiring contracts of Amare Stoudemire and Andrea Bargnani come off the books. They already traded Iman Shumpert and J.R Smith to the Cavaliers and are expect to have a Top 5 or 10 draft pick in this year’s draft class depending on their record by the end of the season.
But only a handful of free agents will be out there for the Knicks to get such as Lamarcus Aldridge, Goran Dragic, Jimmy Butler, Marc Gasol etc. Most of these stars are playing in the All Star game and by playing in the biggest stage along with Phil Jackson, arguably the greatest head coach of all time running the team as president, they may be tempted to join the Knicks. The amount of money and playing with Carmelo can possibly elevate the Knicks to playoff contenders in 2015.
