Summa’ Summa’ Summa-time! (Hopefully you all caught that Will Smith reference) It is officially summer and the solstice has officially turned. Shorts and tanks are out in full force! This week’s Street Style feature is really showing us how to step into a City Summer. Let’s get the breakdown.
1. Just because I love the fit of it so much, we’ll begin with the tank top our feature is sporting. It’s actually a tank-top. And no gentlemen I don’t mean a t-shirt with frayed edges from being chopped off at the sleeves or that weird rolling action that cotton takes on after it’s been cut and washed a few times either. I’m talking about refined sewn edges that lay flat and look fresh. The V-neck accent to this muscle tank doesn’t make it seem so casual.
TANK WARNING: If you are doing to wear muscle tanks similar to this one featured above please make sure that all grooming needs are tended. There’s nothing like sitting on the subway looking up to an untamed arm-pit jungle grabbing on the the bar 6ft. above you!
2. These shorts are great!! No they’re not your cargo length or even those silly man capris that hit the hip-hop scene a few years back! Instead, they’re a nice chino material short that falls right past the quad of knee. And yes, for certain looks (skate or street) a little bit of saggin’ is acceptable. This street feature is wearing them right a his waist and they looks great. Much like their full length chino cousins, this style of short comes in various color ways. Sorry guys, no denim here.
3. C H U C K S!!! Can they ever do anyone wrong? The answer to that rhetorical question is “Absolutely Not”. Classic and just seamless, these all black chucks are great with this look. The high-top fully laced sneaker works well with the shorter fit of the shorts because they cut the leg off right at the ankle so that there isn’t TOO much leg exposed. Not to mention, the choked up lacing really helps to sell that whole “street/skater feel” as well.
3. Without a hat to top off this look, it would really just be … B O R I N G. This faux leather hat works so well with this look. Even thought this look features a great deal of black against this white shirt, they’re all so different. From sueded cotton shorts, to canvas Chucks and now a faux leather hat, all of these black pieces give this look some varying texture and step up this basic color pallet. Flipping the hat to the back screams 90’s and showcases our street styles attitude making this look all his. Well done, @christianconfidential.
SIDE NOTE: I was really concerned about those of you who didn’t catch on to that Will Smith reference (plus I just really love the song). Here’s a little bit of a throwback to get your summer started off…
