The 2015 NBA Draft is tonight and it can go many ways. Although it is a lock that Kentucky Player Karl Anthony Towns with the first pick in the draft, there are other players that can be drafted in any order from two to five. The New York Knicks have the fourth pick and were upset. But it can be a blessing in disguise as other players in the draft can make an impact on the team. Here are three players they should look into.
3. Justise Winslow
Winslow is a two way guard that elevated his game in the NCAA Tournament. He can play defense and can also be a playmaker. He can be a fit in terms of the triangle and having a big guard playing against some of the best point guards and shooting guards in the league. Although the Knicks have Tim Hardaway Jr, there is a possibly of him being part of a trade and starting Winslow. He has upside and already talked with Melo and the Knicks. He will be available by that time and could be what the Knicks need.
2. Jahlil Okafor
This can be a steal for the Knicks. The Lakers are interested in trading for Cousins and most likely the second pick. But they can also be interested in drafting a point guard like D’Angelo Russell or Emmanuel Mudiay. Either way Okafor has the potential to the franchise player after Melo leaves. He is a post player with great footwork and can score in different ways. He has the strength to bully his way and can easily average 18 points and 8 rebounds. Although his weakness is free throws and defense, He can still make an impact offensively and playing in the triangle will elevate his game to an all star talent.
1. D’Angelo Russell
This is a long shot for the Knicks depending on who the Lakers or 76ers pick. Russell has the total package as a point guard. He is long and athletic, has the smarts of making great passes and can shoot the ball. NBA GM’s believe he is the best skilled player in the draft. In a point guard driven league where every night there are great point guards facing each other especially in the west, it’s important for the Knicks to get him if he is still there. He can not only change the way they play as a team, but elevate himself as the franchise player and make Knicks fans happy.
