As usual, Donald Trump is at it again. This time, he is being pursued because of a possibly anti-Semitic image posted, and then later deleted, on his Twitter account.
The image, posted on Saturday (incidentally, the same unfortunate day that Elie Wiesel passed on), is a picture of Hillary Clinton’s face, on a pile of money, with a six-pointed star text saying “Most Corrupt Candidate Ever!” Needless to say, the Jewish community took immediate offense as the six-pointed star is most commonly referred to as a Star of David, which the Jews were made to wear during the Holocaust. The image was deleted from Trump’s Twitter account, but on the Internet nothing goes away completely, and the image is still being talked about and reviewed. The Twitter account later re-uploaded the image, with the star replaced by a circle.
Trump tried to deflect the backlash, saying that “not every six-pointed star is a Star of David,” and that the star was supposed to represent a sheriff’s star. However, it’s hard to ignore the fact that Trump’s social media manager admitted the image was lifted from an “anti-Hillary Twitter user,” who was also found to be extremely racist.
It seems that every day something new comes from the Trump campaign. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?
