As a 21st century bloke, chances are you’ve already dedicated a room to your leisure time. Everybody needs their own space and you deserve that badass man cave packed with everything you need to have the best me-time this world has ever seen.
So, how could you possibly make your man cave any better than it already is? Turn it into your very own private casino that’s how. Whether you want to completely dedicate your man cave to poker or you just want to host a tournament for you and your friends, we’ve got all the advice you need to turn your space into the games room of your dreams.
Build an Atmosphere
Alright so we’re not talking scented candles or hanging chandeliers, but your casino room is going to be far more authentic if you create the right atmosphere. After all, when was the last time you visited a brick-and-mortar casino where the vibe was ‘spare room’?
Plus, while you may not have thought about it beforehand, different atmospheres can even affect how casino games are played. For example, recent research provided by 888poker claims that dim lighting will encourage players to be a little more risky and willing to give up their chips. Alternatively, a well-lit room can cause your opponents to put their guards up and take the game far more seriously. As for which lighting you’ll opt for, that depends on what sort of tournament you want to have.
Get the Right Equipment
Of course, building an atmosphere won’t be easy unless you have the right gear. You don’t need to go overboard but if you’re taking this seriously you’re going to want to make sure you have plenty of card decks, chips and a table to sit around. The first two should be relatively easy to come by, but furniture may be a bit trickier.
Fortunately, a regular-sized dining table will probably serve the purpose well enough depending on how many guests you plan on having. You could even check out some online tutorials on how to build your very own casino table from scratch or just stretch some green felt over the surface of your table. However, equipment like roulette wheels is a bit harder to build yourself so you may need to invest in one separately.
Find the Level
Finally, there’s what could turn out to be the most challenging part of turning your man cave into a casino: finding the level. What we mean by this is you have to find the balance between having fun and ensuring there’s a level of seriousness. This is because while your casino may only be for entertainment, there still needs to be rules. For instance, there has to be someone in charge of money-related issues. They must be fair, give out chips and ensure that no one is going too overboard when placing bets or setting blinds. Without this there is a chance of misunderstandings and disagreements so assigning a responsible person is important.
Still, the main aim of this transition was to have fun and as your casino is completely different from any other land-based or online casino in the world you get to decide how you’ll do that. So really, the rest is up to you and we wish you luck!
