We at Bleu have been lauding rapper/writer/poet George Watsky for his recent undertakings, and with good reason- they have all been spectacular displays of talent. The most recent of these is Watsky’s newest album, stylized as x Infinity, which is his fourth studio album.
x Infinity blends a jazzy, funky beat with the rapper’s flawless (and scarily fast!) rapping to create some really dope songs. The album opens up with “Tiny Glowing Screens, Part 3”, which sets the tone for a New York-esque sound. You know what I mean- fast paced and bombastic yet cool. Listen to this on a train on your way to work or on your next big adventure and you’ll feel plenty pumped up for the day ahead.
One of the really standout pieces of this song is “Stick to Your Guns”, which describes all of the flaws we utilize when talking about yet another American mass shooting. From the ways in which we treat bullying to the unnecessary debate on whether or not people should be allowed to get guns so easily (hint: they shouldn’t), this song covers it all. The lyrics, when you fully listen to them, stick with you. Watsky released this song early as a means by which to get people to call their state and local government representatives to get them to start talking about gun control laws and how badly America needs them.
As a whole, Watsky’s newest album has us dying for more! Luckily, he’s going on tour! You can get tickets here.
