During fall fashion week South American designer Felecia Persuad brought the sea and sunshine to the catwalks of New York City when she debuted her first collection during Nolcha, an offsite showcase for emerging designers. The spring 2014 collection was received with rave reviews from buyers to style networks. Combining her Guyanese roots with a touch of New York City boldness, Persuad explained the inspiration behind this collection was based on her own life. The mother of two boys and former banker understood the need to have great clothing that can take you from the boardroom to parent teacher conference without sacrificing style. Her ability to blend those two worlds makes the collection perfect for women on the go. “My main focus is on the woman’s body, helping people to embrace curves, not hide them,” she said.
