Yankees Dropped Out Of First Place In The AL East After 2-1 Loss Against Indians
The New York Yankees lead the America League East for over a month. After last nights loss against the Cleveland Indians 2-1 they dropped out of first place. Yankees Starting Pitcher, C.C. Sabathia went six innings to give up six runs. Indians Starting Pitcher went eight innings and given up only one run.
The Yankees overall have not been the Bronx Bombers over the past week. Although they won two out of three against a sub-par Boston Red Sox team, they went up against the red hot Toronto Blue Jays over the weekend. The team didn’t score enough runs despite solid performances from the starting pitchers and got swept.
Some thought they would turn it around against the Indians due to the high power offense displayed over 100 games this season. However it didn’t go well as the offense continues to struggle and loss two games in a three game series before the critical weekend match-up against the Blue Jays. Brett Gardner, Jacoby Ellsbury and the middle of the lineup can’t seem to find any rhythm. Alex Rodriguez, who looks like a shell of himself can’t believe they loss control of the division.
”It’s hard to believe,” New York’s Alex Rodriguez said according to Yahoo Sports. ”We can’t control what they (Toronto) do over there or what any team does in the American League East. We have to worry about what we’re doing.”
The Blue Jays lead the American League in runs with a monster lineup. The addition of Troy Tulowitzki to the team with Jose Batista and Josh Donaldson has made this lineup hard to stop. They are on a roll offensively and their pitching is just as good. The Yankees need to turn it around tonight to gain some confidence before facing the Blue Jays this weekend.
