Kanye West’s new album, Yeezus, can be summarized as blasphemous, cocky rants over sonic beats and haunting drums. Many of the tracks like “I’m In It” are so dirty that you’ll feel like you need to bathe in holy water while blasting Fred Hammond after listening to them. I mean only KW can get away with yelling where’s my croissants over a track that sounds like it was composed in the pits of hell (banshees and demons included). Except for the last track “Bound 2”which resembles the old KW’s sound, you would never believe that this is the same artist that brought us College Dropout. One thing you can always say about Mr. West is that he pushes the envelope and is constantly evolving his sound which makes him a true artist. Whether you’re a fan or not, you cannot deny that this album is a work of art. It does what art is supposed to do, evoke emotion, even if that emotion is just shock. This album is like a lights out roller coaster ride, the minute you get a comfortable enough to bob your head; it then takes you for a dip that you never expect.
